Visit the refuge for a Natural Dharma Fellowship morning of meditation, contemplation, and a community potluck.
To live a modern life, even of the most ordinary kind, is no simple matter. To fulfill our most basic obligations--to support our family, take care of aging parents, attend to our own body, pay our bills, stay connected to sangha and practice, please our employer, answer our correspondences, finish school—involves a great deal of ingenuity and planning on a daily basis. After awhile, complexity becomes a way of relating to our entire reality. It is not difficult to understand why we often feel filled with a sense of overwhelm. The Yoga of Simplicity, a core teaching of the Mahamudra tradition, teaches that we do not have to stay tethered constantly to this sense that our life is overwhelmingly complicated. Rather, we can begin to explore the possibility that “complexity” largely lies within the way we relate to our world. This view opens the possibility that we can choose to relate to the world different, with less stickiness. As we become more devoted to simplicity, we may even discover a space within that is deeply and naturally uncomplicated. As the space of simplicity is discovered, we can consider how it might touch many aspects of our daily life, from the contents of our house, to the way we engage in meditation practice.A program for school aged children will take place this Sunday. Please RSVP to email@example.com. Arrive by 9:30 and come dressed for outdoor activity.
This event is free and open to the public. Bring a dish to share and enjoy the potluck. No registration necessary. $10 suggested donation. All proceeds contribute towards the programming at Wonderwell.
